Kaizen and Micchami Dukkadam in daily life

Today I am going to tell you two simple things, both are very simple, yet that which can bring a huge change in your life over time.

You know about Japan right. Bombs were dropped in its twin cities in world war, and Japan was in rubbles and today you see it is a world economic power. Japanese are hardworking people and they have come to such a powerful state from no where. Comparatively many countries were very much well of than how Japan was on that day when the bombs were dropped, but today, they are no where near to Japan in economic status. What is so different that Japanese do? Simple Kaizen. Be it schools, hospitals, government offices every where, they practice Kaizen regularly. So you want to know what is it?

Kaizen means incremental improvement. We don't talk about big change, but a little increment over the present state. For example in schools each class they meet on regular basis and discuss kaizen. Here in this practice, every student present has to tell about one small change that can be implemented in the class. The idea should not cost a huge amount. It should be implementable, simple to implement and should bring value if implemented. For example, some body can say we can bring flower and keep on table, somebody can say, we can keep a separate box for keeping chalks, somebody can say we should keep the lunch bags arranged in a corner. Something like that. So slowly the class transformation happens. Imagine, what happens after 10 weeks, Imagine what happens after 10 months, imagine what happens after 10 years. Incremental change, but continuous change, Such a wonderful idea right.

In our lives also we should apply Kaizen. Ever new day we should be small increment better than what we were yesterday. No drastic change. Small change. Let all the small changes culminate and make you into a beautiful You in years to come. Happy time with Kaizen.

The second thing that I want to tell you today is about Jainism. The Jains all of two sections Digambar and Swethambar. Both sections follow this beautiful practice, that offloads all the burden from them and always keep them light and simple. Their face glows with beauty, as their minds are clear. How do they manage to keep the mind clutter free and thoughtless without worries and anxieties? Simple Micchami Dukkadam.

What is it? It is a Prakrit word and its meaning is "I ask pardon of all living beings, may all of them pardon me, may I have friendship with all beings and enmity with none". So not only with fellow human beings, with all living beings be in ant, small insects, birds, flies, fruits, vegetables everything, you ask forgiveness and be grateful to them for what ever support they provided to you in life. If you do this and keep this as a practice, your heart will be filled with love for all living beings, nature and environment and there is no thought that will bother you or pull you down.

So will you follow Kaizen and Micchami Dukkadam daily?

Healthy Hair

My first topic is Healthy Hair.

Why is it important to have healthy hair?

The condition of your hair can be one of the most important signs of your overall health. Vibrant, healthy hair means that your body is producing enough vitamins and nutrients that ensure the body is operating at its peak condition.

Unhealthy, dry and frizzy hair may be a sign that you may need to change your diet or hair care routine in order to promote your overall health and well-being.

Healthy hair is critical to both your physical and mental well-being and should be taken seriously. With the proper maintenance and care, it is possible to have healthy, vibrant hair at all times.

How to test is hair is healthy?

Follicle Test - The normal root end of a strand should be bulb-shaped, so if you see this, your hair is healthy. If it’s puny or without any bulb shape at all, your hair is weak and needs care.

Sink Test - if you put your strands of hair in cup of water and if it floats, hair is healthy. If partly damaged will go to middle of water and completely unhealthy ones will sink in water.

Feel Test-  If you moved the hair strands between your thumb and index finger and feel the hair is smooth, the hair is healthy, if it is kind of rough, then the hair is damaged

Elasticity test - Pull your strand of hair and if it stretches and then comes right into middle, hair is healthy, if it breaks, hair is damaged.

How to take care of the hair? Things to do daily/Weekly

Oiling the scalp - Oils play an important role in protecting hair from regular wear and tear. Avoids drying of hair and helps in preventing hair fall. apply oil everyday night before going to bed, if you do not want to apply oil before going to college. Use Coconut oil and massage your scalp gently. This will give you good night sleep also.

Avoid tight hair styles - Avoid tight hair styles like pony, etc on daily basis. Also avoid free hair and especially during night sleep time. This can lead to tangling of hair. Everyday night, apply oil and put a plight and then sleep.

Avoid More chemicals - Avoid chemical shampoo, conditioner, unnecessary items. Use herbal powders for cleaning the hair. Don't run behind fancy items to apply on hair.

Avoid detangling of hair - Always keep the hairs smooth and free. Don't go heavily on free hair, that makes it detangle and get into knots and start breaking.

Keep hair clean - Every week take hair bath and clean your hair. Dry the hair and ensure you don't catch cold because of wet hair.

Keep your comb clean - Clean your comb ever week

Nutrition for Good Hair

Curry leaves are loaded with properties that can work wonders for your hair and lead to hair growth. They are rich in antioxidants and proteins, these antioxidants neutralize the free radicals and keep your hair healthy and strong. So don't pick up curry leaves and keep it aside. I am not asking you to eat curry leaves separately. Everyday what ever curry leaves you get in your plate, just eat them. this will prevent white hair also.

Carrot - Carrot does wonders in maintaining healthy hair. It also helps your eyes. So double dhamaka. Vitamin A-rich carrots provide excellent nourishment for the scalp. A healthy scalp ensures shiny, well-conditioned hair that is strengthened and moisturized. An overall balanced diet of lean proteins, fruits, and vegetables, whole grains, legumes, fatty fishlike the Indian salmon and low-fat dairy are great boosters for healthy hair.

Thayir - So this is a must everyday. You just don't have to invent a new habit. Just follow what we have been practicing since ages. Consume 2 cups of curd everyday, automatically hair is taken care.

So test your hair today and start taking care of your hair. After all I know you want to look good and beautiful and hair is so important for that. If you deprive it of oil and always keep it loose, it is not going to last long. I know you are a smart girl, so act from today. All the best.

Off to College

Remember sending my daughter to pre-school just now and today, had the experience to drop her at the campus hostel. time flies. It seems I was in hostel just now and look my daughter is in hostel now.

So time and tide waits for non and we should utilize the time properly. i really miss my daughter and also feel should have utilized the time I had with my daughter better when she was so near. From now on, I feel the distance is only going to increase. College, Higher studies, marriage and her own family. Anyway that's life.

But with all this happening, I have got the new motivation in me, to talk to my daughter through a blog everyday. I will write something unique that i want to share with her and tell her and hope she reads it.

All the best Kutti for the new beginning in your life journey. My best wishes and prayers always for you
